NACID - Ethiopia Nazareth Children's Center & Integrated Development (NACID) is a non-political, non-governmental, non-profit organization originally established to run a center for orphans in Nazareth, Ethiopia. Founded in 1989, we answered the call to save the lives of children who lost their parents due to famine and disease. This same need remains all too common today in a country where such deaths still create orphans daily. Was that enough? Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he eats for life. This basic concept is the philosophical principle supporting our attempts to develop self-sustaining communities. Over the years, we have grown to help the orphaned children we fed obtain education through our schools, get medical attention through our care centers, grow food for their villages through our renewable agriculture and irrigation programs, reduce disease through our clean water efforts, obtain job skills through our career training, establish businesses through our micro-loan programs, and so much more. NACID has grown beyond merely feeding hungry orphaned children to offer more permanent solutions, and in turn creates hope for Ethiopia. Much has been done, but there is still so much more to do. Many more can escape physical and intellectual hunger. Many more still fall prey to avoidable illness. Your help will go far thanks the efficiency of these life saving programs. NACID - USA NACID USA is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization formed to provide support and the finances necessary to operate NACID's children's programs. From the orphan care that started it all to the much needed schools to clinics and medical education services throughout Ethiopia, we strive to provide the funding NACID requires to continue its life-saving work with deserving communities and individuals, from childhood to adulthood.
